The main goal is to bring a level of reality to people's interspersion of how easy it is to start a food business. Once we've done that then the object is to have them think about the market that they wanna supply, the type of product that they wanna supply, and develop a business plan to meet those needs.
3. Anita Lekas - Workshop Participant

My Busy Thursday
Last Thursday, I couldn't go to the City Hall with my classmates. I really wanted to go with them, but I couldn't because I had some important things to do.
In the morning, I went to the lab for a blood test with my aunt and cousin. My cousin needed to do a blood test, too. The lab was so busy, but my little cousin kept me amused. I was so scared that I wanted to cry because I hate things like blood tests. They called my name first, but I asked my cousin to go before me. She is just seven years old, but she was stronger than me. She didn't cry or scream, so I was shy to show her my fear. It was the first time I went to the room without my mom, and happily I didn't cry. Honestly, it was nothing I was just torturing myself by thinking about that little needle.
After that I did some grocery shopping because my brother-in-law and his fiancee were coming to Toronto. I went home and prepared everything for them. Then I went to the airport to pick them up. I saw his fiancee for the first time. She is a very nice girl and I am so happy that I met her. During the weekend, we had a very good time together, and I hope she will come back again to Toronto.
Although, I couldn't go to the field trip with my friends, I was not sad that day. I was happy because after 3 months finally I did my blood test, and meeting my family made my day.

Most useful tips:
1. Checking flyers, and find out sale products.
2. Before going to shopping make a shopping list.
3. Eat something before go for shopping.
Least useful tips:
1. Stock up when prices are low.
2. If a sale item is sold out ask for rain check.
3. Always watch the scanner at the check out, because sometimes they make a mistake.

Field Trip to Mirvish Village
Last Friday, we went to Honest Ed's. It is a huge store with three floors. Each floor include different things. I found women, men, children and a few other sections in that store. The prices were really cheap, so I bought many things as gifts for my friends in my home town. Then Katie, Silvia and I decided to go for lunch in Yorkville, and check out the stores on Bloor Street. After lunch while we came out of the restaurant, I was thinking how good it will be if I could see a celebrity today. Suddenly, we saw many teenagers who were standing on the sidewalk waiting for something. News channel cameras and reporters were there. I went closer, and asked one of them, "What's going on?"They said Justin Bieber, the famous singer was coming. "Oh my god I knew it", I said to Katie. After five minutes, I heard the crow yelling and running, so we did the same thing. His bus was coming to pick him up from his hotel. We stayed in front of his hotel for 30 minutes, but he didn't come, so I told my friends, lets go. I didn't care about him any more, because I was tired. In the evening when I came back home I saw him on the news. They were talking about his bad behaviour. He had spitting on his fans from his hotel balcony. Thankfully, we left that place before he did. I was happy that we didn't spend more time there.

Planing Activities With Children
Yesterday Shankari came to our class to talk about planing activities with children, and gave us lot's of useful information. She told us how important is keeping our children active during summer. When schools are close they don't have anything to do, otherwise they just want to seat in front of TV for long time, and watch cartoons or play games. As you know these kind of things are not good for their health and mind. Shankari offered us many kind of activities for children such as: swimming, dancing, hacking, camping, skating, travelling and etc. She also said we have to know how important is to keep them active even in winter, because of cold weather usually people want to stay at home, but it is not good idea. Ice skating and snowboarding are good for winter, or we can use indoor activities. One of the good places is YMCA which have different kind of activities for all. I don't have any children to make plan for, so I decided to do some activities my self. I will apply to be a member in there.

Last Weekend in Blue Mountain
Last Saturday, my husband and I decided to go to Blue Mountain. We left our home in the morning, and on the way we stopped by Wasaga Beach. After that we drove to Blue Mountain. First, we went to Blue Mountain Village and looked for a hotel to stay in, but every place was booked, and no room was available for us. Unfortunately, we left the Village and found a hotel near by Village. It was one of the worst places I had ever stayed in my life, but we didn't have any other choice. We stayed there one night, and the next day we left and went back to the Village. I was not sure if we could get a room in that hotel or not, because usually on the weekend many people go there, and it was our fault for not booking ahead. When the reception told me that they had room, I really wanted to kiss her. After that ugly place, it sound good. We stayed there for two nights. I liked that place very much. It made me feel good. Blue Mountain is a really beautiful place, and we decided to go there in winter again. They also has a famous spa. I went there too, and I really enjoyed it. I want to go there again.

July Vacation
Last week, we had 10 days, vacation. It was good time to look around and have some fun. On Monday, my husband and I went to Niagara Falls for the Canada Day celebration. Every year, Niagara Falls hosts a huge celebration for Canada's birthday on July 1st. Many people were there. There was lots of entertainment, such as free birthday cakes, face painting, a car show, live entertainment and food vendors. I was excited about the fireworks at night. Finally night came, and it started. It was really beautiful. I had never see fireworks before. That's why I enjoyed it very much. We stayed one night at Niagara Falls in a hotel. The next day, on the way back, we stopped by a farmer's Market and bought some fresh fruits. We went to Niagara-on-the-Lake too. It was good, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Field Trip to the Canada Job Expo
Last Tuesday, we went to the Canada Job Expo. I went there with friends in one car. When we arrived we sat in a room with others. We listened to a woman who was speaking about how to introduce ourselves when we are going to get a job. She really gave us some good information. After that, five of my friends and I decided to go for lunch, so we went to Dragon Pearl restaurant on York Mills Rd. It was a buffet restaurant, so we just paid $15 and ate a lot. Many kinds of delicious foods were there, and I ate a lot more than my used. They also had a free lunch for those who celebrate their birthday, so Ming tried to say it's my birthday, but it didn't work. They asked him to show them I.D, but he said I didn't have it with me, so they said sorry we can't give the free meal. It was so funny and we laughed a lot.

National Volunteer Week Lunch
Last week was National Volunteer Week, so on Friday I went to Gourmet Malaysia Restaurant with all of the LINC students and teachers. We thought that it can be a way to thank our volunteer teachers, Peter and Kathleen.
Our teacher was told us to share our cars with other students who didn't have a car, so I was in a car with Kate and Yana.
Most of the students were in the restaurant. We ordered our foods but I was really confused, because I didn't know anything about the foods that they have. My friend Kate helped me to choose one. I ordered crispy chicken with mango sauce and it was really delicious.
After lunch two of our classmates, Hamid and Nora, gave the gifts from all of us to Kathleen and Peter to thank theme.
It was a good day and I really enjoyed it.

A Trip to the IEP Conference
Last Friday my classmates and I went to the IEP Conference. It was at Metro Toronto Convention Centre, so I met my friends in Bayview Station at 9:30.
First, we went to the Conference hall where someone gave us lots of good information about accounting and finance.
I went there because I thought it could help me to find a job or have some information about Canadian colleges.
I liked the lunch that they gave us for free. It was delicious, and I enjoyed it.

Environment In Canada
Hi dear Donya,
In the last email you asked me about the environment in Canada. I can't explain to you a lot because it has been just 1 month that I came here. So I do not know everything about it.
From the day that I came here I just saw cold weather, nothing else! Most of the time it is snowing or raining. In some days you can see four seasons in one day! When you look out the window in the morning, it is snowing and then when you go outside in the afternoon it is sunny. In the evening, the weather becomes cloudy and windy. The temperature is about -6 degrees but it feels like -20. It is too cold, you can't stay outside more than 3 minutes.
If you have a problem with cold weather I do not suggest living in Canada, because it is almost always winter and you can see summer only in July and August.
I hope you decide to visit Toronto in the summer.
best regards,
Lena.
